Akin Narula, one of the leading fashion designers of the country, has become the first Indian designer for sport lifestyle brand PUMA AG.
Rajiv Mehta (MD, PUMA) addressed the media and welcomed Aki as a first Indian designer for PUMA. Aki Narula will design, create and develop a brand new ready-to-wear women`s collection for PUMA.
Aki Narula said, "I am honored and humbled to be chosen to be a part of PUMA`s unique and talented design fraternity. I feel that the collaboration for PUMA`s Sport Fashion line is a revolutionary model for a partnership."
Narula added, "Combining PUMA`s infrastructure and technological platform we will be able to turn experimental ideas into reality for our Spring/Summer 2010. Women will now have access to premium fashion rather than only seeing them in shows and events."
Aki Narula is joining PUMA`s growing list of fashion design collaborations that already includes names such as Alexander McQueen, Yasuhiro Mihara and Sergio Rossi. PUMA`s fusion of sport and fashion is one of the brand`s strengths and has proven to be a success within the Indian market.
The Spring/Summer 2010 PUMA collection by Aki is a well-rounded, 360 degree concept consisting of women`s footwear, apparel and accessories. The mid-to premium range priced collection targets all women looking to add a bit Aki Narula`s funky designs to their wardrobe.
Rajiv Mehta, Managing Director of PUMA India said, "Aki Narula is a proven visionary in the fashion and design industry. With this collaboration Aki will bring his design prowess and creativity to PUMA. Collaborating with Aki will further expand PUMA`s ability to move into a new space, expanding our reach to become the most desirable Sportlifestyle Company in the world."
The media preview of the collection is scheduled for November 2009. This exclusive Spring/Summer collection will be available in key PUMA stores across India starting February 2010.
