Travellers now preferring more online travel packages

The online hotel consolidators are growing rapidly in India and travellers are opting more for the online travel packages.

Online consolidators are negotiating with hotels to ensure that customers can avail attractive prices. Customers in turn are turning focus to Online Tourism.

According to a recent media report, citing examples, Travelguru.com is currently offering 25 per cent cash back on nearly 500 of India`s best hotels. Travelocity.com offers customers special deals every Tuesdays. Whereas Yatra.com has special offers for MasterCard customers while several other travel sites offer extra reward points and discounts to Citibank customers. With such exciting offers and rates, several leisure and business travellers from all over the world, are now booking their hotels and holidays online.

Ashwin Damera, CEO, Travelguru said, "In India, the online hotels market is growing at a rate of 136 per cent. We have seen a 150 per cent increase in business bookings, as corporate houses are shifting their bookings online. The online portals give them better deals than the existing ones with hotels and portals also provide them with a vast choice of hotels at the same time."

Travel portals offer technology, which is one of the prime advantages over their traditional counterparts. Companies are increasingly mandating that all domestic and international travel be booked online to save on transaction costs and streamline processes.

Lemon Tree Hotels give its customers an additional eight per cent discount if the booking length is three days or more.
