King`s XI Punjab has defeated the Mumbai Indian on Wednesday by three-run in the Indian Premier League.
Punjab defended a humble 120-run target and restricted Mumbai to 7-116 despite South African JP Duminy`s 59 under pressure. With this Punjab has bagged three wins and Mumbai two from five matches in IPL second season.
In the last over, Mumbai needed 12 runs to win over Punjab but seamer Yusuf Abdulla stopped them in only eight. He also picked the prize wicket of Duminy.
Mumbai were stumbling at 4-45 in the 10th over before Duminy raised hopes of victory with a responsible 63-ball knock containing four boundaries. He put on 49 for the fifth wicket with Abhishek Nayar (15).
Pacemen Irfan Pathan, Vikramjeet Malik and Abdulla took three of the first four wickets, including those of hard-hitting openers Sachin Tendulkar and Sanath Jayasuriya.
In the opening over, Jayasuriya was caught by skipper Yuvraj Singh in the slips off Pathan and he returned without opening his scorecard. Skipper Tendulkar contributed just one before cutting Malik to Mahela Jayawardene at point.
