Alila Hotels & Resorts plans to set up 12 hotels in India by 2015

Singapore-based Alila Hotels & Resorts is planning to set up 12 hotels in India by 2015 with its first property in Goa, Alila Diwa Goa by September 2009 and another property in Bangalore by July 2010.

Alila Hotels & Resorts will manage these properties. The company is focusing on getaway destinations. It is in talks with developers to manage properties in Calicut and Kochi in Kerala.

Mark A Edleson, President, Alila Hotels and Resorts said, "We will focus on key destinations to open resorts and hotels that target business and leisure clients. India is a major target country and we see huge opportunity and potential in this market. Since, we are launching our hotel in a new country we need to understand the market, human resources and clientele. We are also looking for properties in Bangalore and Jaipur."

Its property in South Goa has 149 rooms (including suites and villas) and is twenty minutes away from Dabolim International Airport. It offers a spa, Alila living boutique with library, family entertainment zone with mini theatre; kids activity centre, day care centre.

Alila Hotels & Resorts plans to set up 12 hotels in India by 2015 It also offers outdoor activities like a cricket pitch and beach volleyball court; outdoor children`s play area, swimming pool and kids pool, events centre (for 250 persons) with events lawn (for 150 persons); leisure concierge (cycling, horse riding), coastal speciality restaurant; bar and lounge. 114 rooms will be operational in the first phase. The hotel will have a soft launch in September 2009 and will open officially by November 2009.
