Tata Motors plans to launch `world truck` by May-end

India`s largest commercial vehicles maker Tata Motors is planning to launch its `world truck` by the end of May 2009 by phasing out its existing heavy and medium-range trucks.

The sources informed that the company is launching the world truck along with its subsidiary Daewoo Commercial Vehicles on a completely new platform. The source also indicated that it would be priced at a premium of 5-10% compared to its existing range, as it will have almost same features such as AC cabins.

These trucks will be powered with 185-565 HP engines and will compete with the likes of Volvo, Nissan, Mercedes Benz and MAN. The world truck, having up to 300 horse power (HP), will be launched in India, while the higher HP models will be for the global markets.

Tata Motors plans to launch `world truck` by May-end According to the sources, Tata Motors will continue producing the existing range till the market picks up considering the current slowdown in the commercial vehicle market.
