Air India reduces fare on Kanpur-Delhi route |
|
|
The largest air career of the country, Air India has announced a fare cut in the route of Kanpur to Delhi, which will be now almost equal to the fares of Rajdhani Express.
The Economy Class tickets will be available at Rs 1,975. Earlier the same ticket was available at Rs 4, 075.
According to a report, the decision has been taken because of regular under-occupancy of the 48 seater Air India plane, which made the operation of flights on the route a huge burden.
The flight operations initially on the route in 2007 were running smoothly. It maintained about 70 per cent seat occupancy with 30 to 35 seats being booked on a daily basis. However, with time it nose dived to two or three passengers opting for the facility. At times, the flight has to take-off with empty cabins.
A senior official informed, "It is a conditional cut and we aim to attract air passengers through the offer. But the offer will be valid only if the booking is made in advance, at least, one month before the date of reservation. There are other conditions also to be followed."
